Then…and now…

I’ve had a love-hate relationship with my curls for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I hated everything about my natural hair, but trying to manipulate my curls would take hours. Once I reached my teen years, I taught myself how to blow-dry and straighten my hair until the skill was perfected. After years of using heat on my hair, my curls were more than damaged. I hardly ever wore my curls out. This photo was taken in 2007 on a trip to Italy. Needless to say I look horrendous!

When my son was born in 2012, I had very little time and energy to dedicate to styling and straitening my hair like I did in the past. I was forced to, at least, try and embrace what God had given me. One day, I stumbled across some YouTube videos of American girls showing their viewers how to style curls. I was hooked! However, living in Austria, it was not easy getting my hands on the products that they claimed worked wonders. I used the products and methods that were available to me at the time but it still seemed like a lot of work to get to the results I was striving for.

As winter approached, I had given up and started straightening my hair again. Towards the end of spring this year, I came across, what I think, was the answer to my prayers: They specialise in haircare products and accessories for curlys AND stocked all those well-known goodies that the YouTubers were so fond of. Needless to say, I made it my mission to get my curls back to health. It’s been three months and I have never loved my curls more! :)
